Cage Warriors 109 results

Hometown hero Jai Herbert treated the Birmingham crowd to a career-best performance tonight, knocking out UFC veteran Cain Carrizosa to successfully defend his lightweight title.

“Am I UFC ready or what?”

Jai Herbert’s post fight interview asked the question on everyone’s lips – will the ‘Black Country Banger’ become the 94th fighter to go from Cage Warriors to the UFC?

Now 10-1 and riding a 4-fight finish streak, Herbert has one of the best records on the European lightweight scene and one hell of a highlight reel to go with it. If you aren’t following his journey, now’s the time.

In the co-main, Frenchman Morgan Charrière dealt Dean Trueman his second consecutive loss within the distance, finishing him with a furious TKO finish in the third round.

Charriere is now right back in the title conversation, having now beat a former champion in spectacular fashion.

Elsewhere on the main card, Chris Miah impressed with a decision win over Brian Bouland and Perry Goodwin delivered with yet another highly entertaining showcase, picking apart Samir Alekozai.

Opening up the main card was Mick Stanton, who submitted Michael Younis before calling for his second shot at the middleweight belt. Stanton will be watching closely on November 22nd, when champion James Webb defends against Nathias Frederick at CW111.

Highlights from the CW109 pro prelims included a dominant win for former Cage Warriors Academy champion George Smith, training partner to bantamweight champion Jack Cartwright and one of the UK’s new Middleweight prospects to watch.

Next up for Cage Warriors is a long-awaited return to Cork, Ireland, where Rhys McKee takes on Håkon Foss in an electric main event. Irish prospects Ian Garry and Joe McColgan also feature on the card.
