Cage Warriors 95 results and highlight Videos

Europe’s leading MMA promotion delivered yet another action-packed night of fight action to mark their 5th anniversary at London’s Indigo at the O2, crowning a new Welterweight Champion and introducing some stellar new names to the roster.

The CW95 main event saw Stefano Paternò put on the performance of a lifetime, and deliver his promise to bring the welterweight belt back to Italy. Mehrdad Janzemini threatened with his signature heel hook submissions from the opening bell, but Paternò weathered the storm and reversed position to deliver yet another first-round knockout victory for his highlight reel via ground and pound. Stefano Paternò joins Mauro Cerilli as the second Italian champion on the Cage Warriors roster and continues the trend of stellar Italian talent putting on incredible performances with the promotion.

A thrilling co-main event between Mike Ekundayo and Ed Arthur saw Ekundayo edge a unanimous decision win after a full 3 rounds of serious skill. A testament to just how well-rounded athletes must be in order to contend at this level, both fighters put on a true mixed martial arts showcase with some of the most impressive exchanges of the evening. Before that, London fan favourite Brad Wheeler picked up his 11th submission win over Orlando D’Ambrosio, putting himself right back in the list of top Cage Warriors Welterweights to watch over the next few years.

Earlier in the night, Ross Houston battled his way to yet another win, taking his undefeated streak to 7 and grabbing the mic to call for a Welterweight title shot after he submitted Nathan Jones in the second round. Could this be a future opponent for the newly crowned champ?

Opening up the main card, Welsh prospect Mason Jones stormed to a win over Konmon Deh, keeping his unbeaten streak intact and moving ever further up the lightweight rankings. Plenty of fans have already taken to social media to voice their hopes for Jones to appear at CW97, when Cage Warriors hit Cardiff on September 29th.

Highlights from the Pro Prelims included an impressive submission win for James Webb, who continued his streak of submissions in every one of his professional wins, and a superbly matched war between the victorious Scotsman Paull McBain and Steve Aimable.

Next up for Cage Warriors is a return to Liverpool for CW96 on September 1st, a huge card topped by a lightweight title fight between Paddy Pimblett and Søren Bak billed as the biggest fight in European MMA. With events in Birmingham and Cardiff scheduled for new venues later in 2018, Cage Warriors’ mission to bring MMA to new and exciting territories is showing no signs of slowing.
